In 1978 she was named the Rolex Rookie of the Year, Rolex Player of the Year and earned the Vare Trophy. In 1979, she captured eight tournament victories and was awarded Rolex Player of the Year and Vare Trophy honors. In 1985, Lopez won the Rolex Player of the Year and the Vare Trophy Award for the third time in her career. 1987 was highlighted by her 35th career victory at the Sarasota Classic (the same event in which she claimed her first career win in 1978), which qualified her for the LPGA's Hall of Fame.
